The Lagoon Villa – Things To Do
The villa is set in a completely quiet and peaceful area, which makes it an ideal place to relax and catch that tan! Once you’ve had enough of relaxing there is plenty to do on the lagoon and around town.

Water sports

At our villa, we offer stand up paddle boards (SUP), single and double kayaks available for hire – the perfect way to explore the lagoon and canals that connect Negombo to Colombo via water. For the adrenaline junkie who’s always up for a new experience – kitesurfing lessons and trips can also be arranged.

Cycling

The side streets and roads around our villa are very quiet and safe for cycling and therefore an early morning ride along the lagoon road to the main Negombo beach strip is a must. You can witness hundreds of fishing trawlers coming in and the opening of the auction (was it meant to be action?) at the fish market buzzing with energy. You can even cycle along the Dutch canals so don’t forget to take your camera along for the ride!

Bird Watching

The lagoon overlooking our villa attracts a wide variety of birdlife and the best times to catch them in action are during sunrise and sunset either from the comfort of our balcony or getting up close and personal by wading out in to the lagoon. We are also lucky to have a bird sanctuary nearby and official guided tours of the lagoon and mangroves including bird watching by boat can be arranged for you.

Night Life

There is something special to be said about the nightlife in Negombo as it is an experience in itself, with lots of fun and partying all through the night!! Situated mainly along the beach strip where many hotels, restaurants and pubs are located; tourists and locals alike can be seen dancing and enjoying live music and DJs at many of the venues. Transport to and from the beach strip can be arranged for you so that you are sure to get home safely after your night out!

Shopping

Negombo city is quite large, consisting of many shops, supermarkets, restaurants, banks, etc. with many places to shop around in to fulfill your every need, including a weekly market held every Saturday evening. For the more seasoned shopaholic, we can arrange a trip to Colombo to visit the many malls and boutique shops for textiles, souvenirs and household items, sold at competitive prices. [do you need the competitive prices part] Note – Sri Lanka is one of the largest exporters of finished garments so if you shop around, you are bound to get some labels at rock bottom prices!
