You can walk out straight to the lagoon from the house. We have our own dingy and fishing catamaran (which is more exotic). Our own experienced fisherman will be more than happy to take you out into the shallow lagoon for fishing, bird watching or even some prawn or crab catching! At the end of the trip you can often buy some fresh prawns or live crabs for dinner!

With our own boating facility for purpose of fishing and provision of adequate fishing rods is already at your disposal you can enjoy hours of fishing in the lagoon or if it’s all too much effort you can even fish from the balcony! There is plenty of variety of fish to catch. Remember the barbeque is only few yards away! .

The beach is literally across the road.  You can walk across and watch the sunset or swim in one of the rock-formed natural pools on the beach. There are plenty crab chasing or kite flying activities to do along the beach.

The roads and side streets around the villa are very quiet and full of changing scenario. The Villa has free mountain bikes and safety accessories such helmets at your disposal. Early morning ride to the Negombo Town along the beach and the lagoon is a must. You can witness hundreds of fishing trawlers coming in and the opening of the auction. It is full of energy and buzz. You can even cycle along to the Dutch Canals and ride along – if you are fit enough that is!

Being predominantly a Catholic Area, there are many very old charming Churches in Negombo Town and its suburbs. They are worth exploring

The villa is provided with a field scope mounted on the balcony. From here you can watch all types of birds and get a close up on their fishing techniques.

There is something special to be said about the night life in Negombo, as there is a lot of fun and partying during nights, mainly along the beach front in the coastal belt where most famous hotels and guest houses are situated. Both tourists and locals get involved in various funmaking and social activities to enjoy themselves, taking part in various events such as dancing, singing which make the evenings and nights full of fun, merry and enjoyment.

The Negombo Town is quite large, consisting of many shopping malls, supermarkets, banks etc. where people can do bargain shopping.  Every Saturday evenings, there is a bazaar where many textile and other household requisites are displayed for the benefit of the buyers at competitive prices.

Remember Sri Lanka is one of the largest exporters of finished garments. So if you shop around you are bound to get some labels at rock bottom prices.

Being enclosed by the sea and the lagoon seafood is very popular in this area. Local’s daily diet is variety of delicious and fresh seafood – from fresh water fish to prawns to lobsters. You have the option to buy fresh prawns and crabs directly from the fishermen right next door to the house.
