We spent a very relaxing 5 days at the Lagoon Villa and thoroughly enjoyed the villa, pool and gardens. The house is huge - lots of space for us and our two active girls. The house, garden and pool are well maintained and we had everything we needed. It was great that the house has a good stash of toys for the kids as well!

Manith’s cooking was a highlight for us. He cooked some great meals and his menu was flexible enough for my husband and I to enjoy Sri Lankan food, while our two young ones ate basic kids fare (fish and chips, pasta, noodles).  He also stocked the fridge with anything we requested – including fresh milk for our baby.  Namil (the caretaker) took us to Negombo and the beach in his Tuk Tuk as well as taking my husband and daughter out onto the Negombo Lagoon. I cannot speak highly enough of the service we received.

This was our first trip to Sri Lanka and we arrived home completely relaxed and thinking about when we can next get back!

We had the unexpected pleasure of discovering The Lagoon Villa as an emergency alternative to a beachside stay, when we were let down by the hotel last minute. The Villa is beautifully designed and furnished with impeccable taste, taking luxury to the next level.

It wouldn't be discovered by chance - tucked away in a small village about 15 minutes ride out of Negombo, but wow, what a gem of a find! The ultimate thrill was having our own personal chef who specialised in both Sri Lankan and Italian food. It doesn't get much better than that!

The caretaker, Nalin, couldn't have been more helpful - he dropped us at a store one day and even came in with us to make sure we got the best price!

We loved our reading time on the balcony looking out onto the lagoon and lazy afternoons by the pool in the beautiful garden.

A truly relaxing stay and one which we wouldn't hesitate to repeat.

    Highly recommended."

The lagoon Villa is an exemplary example of a private villa where large families and groups of friends could stay in a luxurious environment. Being close to the airport and nearby to the busy town and fishing port of Negombo it is an ideal location to be off the beaten track but close to facilities when required.

The villa is well equipped and maintained to the highest standards and the staff are only too willing to oblige with any requests.

One word of advice the road to Negombo is challenging so fully recommend the use of the local tut tuts or buses rather than trying to drive anywhere.

My wife and I stayed for a weekend at the Lagoon Villa in November 2009. It was such a good holiday, being so close the Colombo airport, we didn’t have to travel far before we were in a tropical hideaway. The property is incredibly comfy and luxurious, and its location allowed us to completely relax and unwind.  The Villa is perfectly furnished and I managed to get through two novels whilst sitting on the terrace overlooking the Negombo lagoon with so much birdlife in front of me.

At dinner times, we were presented with fantastic home cooked Sri Lankan dishes of fresh seafood and vegetables.  The staff were very attentive but at the same time left us alone to enjoy the tranquil surroundings in privacy.  With all the modern facilities of Air Conditioning as well as hot, powerful showers in beautifully designed bathrooms and 5* quality beds, we left on the Monday morning feeling a weight of having to return to our hectic urban lives in Delhi.

I happily recommend the Lagoon Villa for any couple wanting to escape for the weekend or for a larger family group that wants to enjoy a relaxed weekend away together in a traditional home rather than in the formalities of a hotel.

My family, a party of nine, stayed at the Lagoon Villa for 4 days or so for a family re-union in August 2010 and can say that it was an unforgettable experience. The villa was huge with beautiful flooring and furnishing, lovely bedrooms and bathrooms, a fantastic kitchen with huge fridge and freezer that quickly became a meeting point at breakfast, all modern conveniences including air conditioning and a washing machine, and staff that could not do too much for you. The grounds and swimming pool were beautiful and perfectly maintained and some happy hours were spent sunbathing and swimming with cooling drinks on hand. The children enjoyed fishing with the fishing rod (provided!) from the upstairs balcony and we also had a barbecue using the lovely al fresco dining area. The main hotels and shops in Negombo were 10 - 15 minutes away and we enjoyed eating at Lords, Browns Beach, Paradise Beach Hotel and Jetwing Beach Hotel. Nalin the caretaker was very happy to take us anywhere in his three-wheeler for a very reasonable price. Manjula the cook provided some wonderful meals for us including chicken curry, vegetable curries, prawns from the lagoon, hoppers and stringhoppers, although we could never finish all the food and felt most guilty! Ravi the owner even lent us his mobile phone for the duration of our stay, and kindly allowed us to keep our luggage in the house while we travelled to other parts of SL.

Overall, it was a wonderful time to catch up on family news and spend time together in the most comfortable surroundings. We will definitely try to return on our next visit to SL.'
